AR Miami Launches Citywide Augmented Reality Network for Art Basel 2025 and Beyond

Miami’s cultural corridors are gaining a new digital layer. AR Miami, a city-scale augmented reality platform developed by AR Miami LLC, announces the launch of its multi-district AR network during Art Basel 2025. The platform brings holograms, digital installations, and spatial storytelling to neighborhoods across the city, transforming streets, galleries, and businesses into immersive, interactive experiences.

From Wynwood to Miami Beach to Coral Gables, AR Miami turns Miami into a living AR gallery that blends art, culture, and emerging spatial technologies.

AR Miami is collaborating with Miami-based international artist Manuela “Toy” Escobar (Toy Invades), to debut a citywide AR experience featuring her iconic animated toy-bear character. Escobar is widely recognized for her colorful bear motif and glowing maze artwork across murals and mixed-media installations. Born in Medellín, Colombia and raised in Miami, she gained global attention after completing more than forty murals during a three-month creative series in 2021, documented extensively on TikTok.

During Art Basel week, Toy appears in geolocated AR installations throughout Wynwood and South Beach. Visitors can open the AR Miami app and explore without scanning markers; users who take a photo or dance with Toy and post with #ToyInvadesMiami & @ARMiami.io will be entered into a Toy Basel community giveaway.

For the Art With Me festival in Wynwood, AR Miami is creating a virtual open-air gallery extending beyond the festival footprint. Participating artists will have AR-enhanced artworks displayed throughout the surrounding district, offering persistent visibility before, during, and after the event.

AR Miami is premiering Parallel Worlds, a narrative-driven augmented reality installation created for the nonprofit Unchained Mothering. The exhibit features a guided AI narrator, holographic performances, floating museum-style information panels, art pairings, and a storytelling sequence exploring the unseen labor of motherhood. The experience unfolds along a walkable path and represents Miami’s first public holographic museum-style narrative installation.

At the Española Cigar Bar & Lounge, visitors can activate holographic product explanations, flavor profiles, cigar origins, and pairing suggestions by pointing their phone at the store’s displays. A concierge hologram is available during peak hours. The activation is expanding across Española Way with AR signage, promotional markers, and interactive overlays supporting local businesses.

AR Miami is rolling out multiple experiences in Coral Gables, including a historic AR walking tour along Miracle Mile, storefront AR signage, and the Centennial Dear Human poetry installation featuring interactive poems placed near sculptures throughout the district. The initiative demonstrates how cities can use AR to enhance tourism, culture, and community engagement.

AR Miami has launched a new partnership with ART WALK / ARtWalk Miami to bring immersive AR art programming to Key Biscayne. The collaboration debuted with the Key Biscayne ARtWalk and the CoralDrop ARt Exhibition, presented at Village Hall on April 25, 2025.

The initiative, supported by the Village of Key Biscayne, Youth Lead Change, and Students for Coral Preservation, features AR-enhanced artworks and environmental storytelling. AR Miami serves as a presenting partner alongside the Logos Blue Economy Foundation, Coral Morphologic, the Key Biscayne Community Foundation, and additional community sponsors.
